Wrapping Up 2021
With 2021 coming to an end, its hard not to reflect on the year we have had.
More challenges and hardships. More lockdowns and isolation.
Its so easy to get caught up in the negative media about new case counts, businesses closing and struggles we have all had. So instead of looking at everything that went wrong and praying for a better year ahead, lets look at all the amazing things that have happened in Almaguin this year!
Almaguin businesses, organizations and associations had an opportunity to collaborate and contribute to our region through a series of events called Staycation in Almaguin. By supporting innovation and marketing we leveraged socially responsible investment in Almaguin while adhering to public health protocols.
Staycation in Almaguin ran from May to October, putting on 131 successful events! Staycation was about reminding locals of all the wonderful things to see and do here, while also giving new explorers a roadmap on how to experience this amazing area. We had such a great variety of performances and workshops across Almaguin, and we are so thankful to all the businesses, artists and performers that helped make it such a success.
We saw performances from 19 unique musicians, whether they were live streamed to your couch, or at local events and markets, with a total of 27 performances across the region. We had 13 local artists who had the opportunity to share their passion and art with Almaguin through Bear Chair paintings, kid’s crafts, and painting workshops.
There were plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the fresh air through our Almaguin Harvest Spin cycling event, edible foraging workshops, hikes on Almaguin trails and horse back riding.
We even hosted events to get you up and moving from your home or in the park. Pilates, yoga, dance classes and kickboxing were all offered as part of Staycation.
If that wasn’t your speed, we had some more relaxing events like cooking classes, embroidery and sewing classes, spa experiences, outdoor and drive-in movie nights, equine therapy, and reiki seminars.
Whether you attended in-person or participated from your computer screen, we hope you felt encouraged, entertained, and connected to the community.
We have such a spirited neighbourhood, so the fun doesn’t stop there! Check out all the amazing Christmas events happening around Almaguin for the holiday season!
