It’s a good weekend to slow down a bit and appreciate what’s happening behind the scenes in the Almaguin Highlands fishing scene. The Almaguin Community Fish Hatchery plays a steady role in that. They support renewable management of walleye fish stocks in the Magnetawan River watershed as it pertains to the area in and around the municipality of Magnetawan and educating local youth to keep the next generation connected to the water.
With Free Fishing Weekend and Mother’s Day coming together, it’s a fitting moment to recognize that kind of local effort.
