Beach Crawl in Almaguin

Suns out and that means it’s time to hit the beach and if you’ve got kids, you’re probably looking for a good ol’ fashioned beach crawl and we’ve got you covered.

So, whether you’re staying in Powassan or Novar, this list has all the beaches you need to know for summer.

PRETTY IN PERRY

Clear Lake Beach
188 Churchill Gardens Road, Emsdale, ON

This beach is a quiet, family-friendly beach offering a picnic space, changing rooms, and washroom facilities. Across the road from the beach is a large field for activities and a dog park.

Long Lake Beach
733 Long Lake Road, Novar, ON

Parking space is limited at Long Lake Beach, but the view is worth the trip. There are no washroom facilities on site.

AWESOMELY ARMOUR

Doe Lake Municipal Park
1014 Ferguson Road, Katrine, ON

The one and only Doe Lake Municipal Park is nestled in the rolling hills of the Almaguin Highlands and is the place to be on a summer’s day. This park not only features a sandy beach with ample shallow waters for the kiddos to play but a play structure as well as accessible washrooms, BBQ pits, a paved boat launch, and even spots to shoot some hoops or play some volleyball.

Pickerel Lake Park
180 Kent Road, Armour, ON

Pickerel Lake Park offers up public access to the beautiful Pickerel Lake via a natural sand/gravel beach and boat launch. It’s also a lovely place for a picnic and has washroom facilities.

Richard Thomas Memorial Park
134 Pickerel & Jack Lake Road (before the bridge), Armour, ON

Take a dip in the Magnetawan River. This is a great spot to have lunch and do some swimming. You just can’t beat the views.

Halcyon Shore Beach
Located across from 2159 Pickerel and Jack Lake Road, Armour, ON

Check out the newest beach in Armour Township, aptly named Halcyon which means idyllic and peaceful. Pack up the picnic basket and be ready for a lovely little day at the beach.

MAGNIFICENCE IN MCMURRICH/MONTEITH 

Doe Lake Beach
Birch Ct, Sprucedale, ON

This beauty of a public beach features swimming, playground, and a spot to have a picnic.

Bear Lake Beach
Beach St, Sprucedale, ON

Another secluded hideaway, Bear Lake Beach is a great spot to take a dip on a hot summer’s day.

RUSTIC RYERSON

Bartlett (Rainy) Lake
Located at the north end of Rainy Lake Road, Ryerson, ON

The park on Bartlett Lake comes complete with a public washroom, change room, and picnic tables.

Doe Lake Boat Launch
Located at south end of James Camp Road, Ryerson, ON

Can’t get enough of Doe Lake? Neither can we. A cozy, quiet spot at the Ryerson boat launch awaits you where you can wade out for days, have a snack and let the kids go for a swim.

SUNNY SUNDRIDGE

Lion’s Park
91 Ontario Street, Sundridge, ON

On the shores of Lake Bernard you will find fun for the whole family including a sandy beach, splash pad, playground, boat launch, and picnic area.

RIVETING SOUTH RIVER

Eagle Lake Estates Park
298 Angus Point Rd, South River, ON

A public beach and public boat launch on the beautiful shores of Eagle Lake. 

MAJESTICALLY MAGNETAWAN 

Magnetawan Centennial Park
Dam Trail, Magnetawan, ON

If you’re chillin’ near the Mag and are looking for a sweet spot to go swimming, Magnetawan Centennial Park has a beach, a play structure, a gazebo for shade along with picnic tables and outdoor workout equipment. You should check it out. 

Ahmic Beach
Off Hwy. 124 on Ahmic Street, Magnetawan, ON

This part of the amazing Ahmic Beach has a beach area as well as some docks. It’s also super pretty.

STUNNING STRONG

Checkerboard Beach
Located at the corner of Lakeshore Drive and Pevensey Road on Sunny Beach Road, Strong, ON

This beach is a great place to start your day whether it be you’re swimming, windsurfing or relaxing. This location has a small sandy beach and washroom on site.

Union Street Beach
Located at the end of Union Street, off Main Street and Forest Lake Road, Strong, ON

This smaller beach is a great place to cool down on hot summer days. This location has a sandy beach and washrooms on site.

South Lake Bernard Beach
Located across from Lake Bernard Trailer Park on South Lake Bernard Road, Strong, ON

This sandy beach is great for the kids. There is boat access, washrooms and playground equipment available.

Sunnyridge Beach
Located at the corner of Albert and High Rock Drive, on Sunny Ridge Road, Strong, ON

This quiet sandy beach is a great place to relax during the summer months, with a washroom on site.

PRISTINE POWASSAN

South River Reservoir a.k.a The Hydro Pond
Purdon, Powassan, ON

Looking for somewhere to cool off in the summer? Well pack up the family and make it a day at the beach. We have a beautiful picnic shelter and change rooms/washroom facilities. The green grass makes another great place for a picnic or to just laze around and get a tan.

KICKIN' IT IN KEARNEY

Kearney Public Beach
Lakeview St, Kearney, ON

The Kearney Public Beach is a fantastic way to spend a summer afternoon on the sandy shores of Hassard Lake. Make sure you pack some snacks because you'll want to enjoy the northern Ontario vibes all day.
