October 8th, 2025 by Megan Yemm

In Almaguin, adventure and appetite go hand in hand. Whether it’s a relaxing riverside stroll, a scenic lakeside loop or a wander along a waterfall trail, wherever you find a bit of adventure, there’s a local bite close by. As the season shifts into its golden finale, fall offers the perfect backdrop to discover and taste the best of Almaguin.

For those seeking a peaceful outdoor adventure, the Sprucedale Recreational Trail is a true delight. With several route options for hikers of all abilities, it’s a great choice for families and nature lovers alike. Take your time crossing the boardwalk to watch for frogs, turtles or waterfowl before they disappear for the winter months. Breathe in the crisp autumn air as you follow the leaf-covered trail, which offers glimpses of local wildlife readying for the cold season ahead.

What’s more welcome after a chilly fall hike than a warm cup of coffee, a sweet treat and a cozy place to rest your toes? Stop by The Dragonfly Collective at the United Church in Sprucedale. Powered by volunteers and true community spirit, The Dragonfly offers coffee, baked goods, prepared foods, artisanal breads and hosts a variety of community events. The atmosphere is warm, casual and infused with the charm of Almaguin hospitality.

Brook’s Falls, nestled in the Township of Perry, is a well-known Almaguin gem — an accessible, short walk to a breathtaking waterfall view with great parking to boot. While the falls are beautiful year-round, the crisp, misty fall air and golden light make the experience unforgettable. Whether you wander down the path to take in the falls from below or admire them from the higher ground, this trail offers a few scenic options for a perfect fall day out. Just be sure to wear proper footwear, as the terrain can be a bit mucky!

When you think waterfalls, you might just think — sausage! After your scenic fall hike, head over to the beloved local favourite The Banger for their unique, elevated take on sausage on a bun. Once you’ve had one, you won’t stop thinking about them.
