SNAPP -Sustainable New Agri-Food Products & Productivity Program

The Sustainable New Agri-Food Products and Productivity (SNAPP) Program is for northern Ontario agriculture and food producers and businesses.   SNAPP will provide up to $10,000 at 50% cost-share towards the purchase of equipment and/or materials that will result in the creation of innovative food or agricultural products new to the business; enhance productivity and/or improve efficiency or resource use through innovation in the process or technology to improve products or processes; or reduce ecological impact and carbon footprint through innovation in the process or technology while enhancing profitability.

NOHFC - Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) was established in 1988 with a mandate to promote and stimulate economic development initiatives in Northern Ontario by providing financial assistance to projects that stabilize, diversify and foster economic growth in the region.

NOHFC’s objectives are set out in the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Act as follows:

  1. to advise and make recommendations to the Lieutenant Governor in Council on any matter relating to the growth and diversification of the economy of Northern Ontario;

  2. to promote and stimulate economic initiatives in Northern Ontario; and

  3. to commission studies and enter into contracts in connection with the objects set out in clauses (a) and (b) above.

  • innovative attraction strategies

  • recruitment strategies

  • retention strategies

Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program
The Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program, a $250-million cost-shared program under the Sustainable CAP was put in place across Canada to help producers conserve and enhance the resiliency of agricultural landscapes. This new program uses an ecological goods and services payment approach to support on-farm adoption and complements other programs, such as the Agricultural Climate Solutions – On-Farm Climate Action Fund, to address climate change.
